Counselling
The majority of my counselling training has been completed in Scotland and I hold a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling from the University of Highlands & Islands. This is accredited by COSCA, a professional organisation that promotes, maintains and upholds the highest standards of ethics and practice in Scotland.
I am also now a member of BACP (accredited) and work to their professional ethical framework. In addition I am a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor/Psychotherapist.
I have worked as a counsellor for Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland, within GP surgeries and for company employees via Employee Assistance Providers as well as working privately with clients.
Fees: Individuals ~ £40 per 50 minute session
Couples ~ £50 per 50 minute session
Payment is by cheque or cash at each session. Cancellations may be charged at full fee if less than 48 hours notice given.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
This very individual and depends on the pace each person can work at. This can be discussed and agreed in the first session. Short-term counselling (mainly for specific issues) usually takes between 6 - 12 sessions. I also offer long-term counselling.
Who Comes to Counselling?
Counselling is a pro-active process, something you do because you are putting yourself first. Many people join a gym, take up exercise or begin to eat more healthily if they are feeling under par physically. Counselling is a way of attending to your emotional needs.
Some people find that physical symptoms they are experienced are caused or aggravated by emotional distress. Some people notice that their quality of life is diminishing. Some people come to counselling because they just don't feel right but can't pinpoint what the problem is. Others know what the problem is but don't know if and how it can be resolved.
